The Department of Neurosurgery is currently looking for Full-Time and Per diem Physician Assistants.

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s team of neurosurgeons in Queens New York offers innovative and comprehensive surgical care to treat a wide range of rare and complex conditions of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system to our patients.

Our team of highly trained and experienced neurosurgeons is focused on delivering advanced, patient-centered, care to our community with the goal of improving the quality of life of the patients we serve.

Jamaica Hospital’s neurosurgeons perform a wide range of surgical interventions, using the latest, minimally invasive technology to treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system 

DUTIES:

As a Physician Assistant in our Neurosurgery Department, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including medicine, pre-op, and post-op responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the responsible Attending. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Opportunity to work with our board-certified and fellowship-trained Neurosurgeons
  • Assist with various complex procedures of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system
  • Perform initial and follow up evaluations, either independently or in conjunction with the physician
  • Order and evaluate x-rays, MRI’s and CT’s
  • Document office encounter notes
  • Prescribe medications appropriately and manage prescription refill requests
  • Respond to patient phone calls to facilitate patient care delivery
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
  • Write post-operative orders
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for billing of services.
  • Obtain/maintain hospital privileges at all hospitals where a practice physician has privileges.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program ARC-PA) required.
  • A current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education, is required.
  • Knowledge of EMR/EPIC
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in Surgery
  • BLS/ACLS Certification
  • Being bilingual is a plus.

SALARY: $61.0051/hr. -  $71.3007  DOE  Plus Applicable Differentials.
