Registered Nurse- ICU (MICU/CICU)

F/T DAY & NIGHT     12/HR SHIFTS          

At Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, our Intensive Care Units are staffed by physicians, nurses and other specialist trained in critical care and how to treat critically ill patients with advanced non-invasive and invasive procedures.  Our Critical Care Unit staff provide around the clock high-quality care to patients to ensure appropriate and consistent care. Patients and their families can expect to receive sensitive, patient-centered medical care from our expert team of physicians and nursing staff.

We are currently seeking RNs for immediate full-time day and night flex shift opportunities in our MICU/CICU.  Our ideal candidate will have 1-2 years current/recent Critical Care or IMCU experience.  Must be able to handle the challenges of a busy fast paced environment, be quick-thinking, with strong assessment skills and the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.

DUTIES

  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
  • Instruct and educate patients and families.
  • Provide respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
  • Carry out physician orders.
  • Orient and mentor new staff members.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program – BSN preferred
  • NY State RN License required
  • 1-2 years’ IMCU or Critical Care Experience preferred
  • Will consider LTC/Subacute experience
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Must have strong assessment skills and ability to work in high stress situations.

Salary: $55.92 /hr. Plus Differentials & Full 1199 Benefits
