Jamaica Hospital Medical Center located in Queens, New York has an immediate part-time Receptionist opportunity in our Reception & Information Department.  The Reception & information Department is a fast-paced environment that provides our patients, visitors, and families with an optimal experience.  It is one of our key front-end areas and is trained to field all requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. 

Our medical center’s Receptionists are responsible for providing front desk/reception support for the department; included, but no limited to screen phone calls; triage messages to appropriate staff members.  Greet, direct and check-in all visitors (i.e., general public, vendors, etc.), responds to routine and non-routine inquires, and assists with basic administrative support to facilitate the workflow as needed.  Additional responsibilities in this role are as follows:

  • Handle high-volume of phone calls and is capable of multi-tasking.
  • Handle deliveries of floral arrangements and or other gifts to patient rooms.
  • Assists patients or visitors requiring a wheelchair and transports them to their destination.
  • Flexible in providing coverage where needed such as the Emergency Room Walk-In. Reception Desk, the ACC Reception Desk Area
  • Issue passes to visitors via Visitor Management System
Requirements
  • High school diploma, college degree preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in medical/reception environment a plus
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, EPIC preferred
  • Highly-skilled computer proficiency required, i.e. word processing, data entry.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
