Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Our goal is to improve the health of our community by working closely with our patients and their families as well as their primary care physicians and other health providers. We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and approach in providing the highest levels of professional, compassionate care to the many culturally diverse, undeserved patients and residents in Queens. We are seeking Patient Care Associates for immediate full-time and part-time opportunities in our in our Telemetry Dept.

DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of unit Registered Nurse Staff, selected candidates will assist with the routine care of assigned patients. Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

· Measuring patients’ vitals, such as temperature and blood pressure.

· Listening to patients’ health concerns, recording them, and reporting them to a nurse or physician

· Preparing patients for exams

· Responsible for checking EKG and Phlebotomy

· Performing basic lab tests and sterilizing medical equipment

· Prioritizing and adjusting work plans based on the needs of the patient, the unit, and the patient care team.

Requirements
· Must have 2+ years of phlebotomy and EKG experience · Must have Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or Certified Patient Care Assistant certification. · BLS certificate from American Heart Association · High School Diploma Required · Knowledge of Medical Terminology required · Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
