Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a member of the MediSys Health Network, is a 384-bed community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center. We are seeking two Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) to join our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation team.

This is an opportunity to work directly with patients as they recover from illness, injury, surgery, and other conditions affecting mobility and function. Working under the direction of a Physical Therapist, you will help patients progress toward greater strength, mobility, function, and independence.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out individualized physical therapy treatment programs under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, mobility activities, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices.
  • Observe patient response to treatment and communicate progress or changes to the Physical Therapist.
  • Reinforce patient and family education related to exercises, mobility, and safety.
  • Document treatments and patient progress accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to support patient recovery and functional goals.
  • Maintain a safe, organized treatment environment and follow established clinical and safety standards.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current New York State authorization to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant, as applicable.
  • Strong patient-care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to safely assist patients with mobility, transfers, and therapeutic activities.
  • Hospital or rehabilitation experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $34.09 – $37.82/hour, depending on experience
  • Full 1199 Union Benefits
  • Full-Time | Day Shift
