Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s state-of-the-art Sleep Center is a 4-bed unit that features comfortable, homelike rooms with sound proof walls for total privacy. Furnished with a queen size bed and flat screen television, each room provides patients with a comfortable testing environment.

Two Sleep Lab – Respiratory Therapist positions open in our Sleep Center. Under the direction of the Sleep Lab Medical Director, the therapist will perform various polysomnograms and other sleep disorder tests

Job Responsibilities:
Therapists will greet and orient the patient to the Sleep Center, explain the procedures and what the patient should expect during the night.

Apply electrodes according to AASM standards. Perform physiologic calibrations to assure proper signals and make adjustments as necessary.

Perform routine mask fitting for CPAP titration patients.

Perform sleep testing following protocols. Make adjustments to the leads, and assist patients during the night as needed.

Use age-appropriate interventions and education. Perform data acquisition while monitoring, make necessary adjustments to assure artifact-free signals.

Document observations such as sleep stages, clinical events, changes in PAP pressure, and other significant events.

Perform required data entry, routine equipment care and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Score records using AASM protocols.

Requirements
Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred Graduate of an approved program for Respiratory Therapy Completion of a Sleep Lab course/clinical Licensed Respiratory Therapist (NYS) Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) preferred Sleep Lab experience preferred Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Membership in AARC preferred
