Nurse Practitioner School health center. The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care to students, ages 13-21 with emphasis on illness prevention and health education. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose and treat student-patients and staff while maintaining the highest quality standards of care. Obtain complete history of patient, recording elements of past history, family history, review of health habits, environmental, and occupational data. Conduct physical examination for the diagnosis and treatment of acute or chronic medical and reproductive health problems. Order and schedule tests, including laboratory and special exams in consultation. Follows-up on abnormal laboratory test results. Maintains the accuracy and completeness of all patient records. Complete progress and procedure notes, and discharge summaries. Provides follow-up and health maintenance care including appropriate adjustments of medication in accordance with established protocols for NPs. Provides additional clinical support programmatically as needed.

Requirements

Must be a Licensed Nurse Practitioner by the state of New York. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively interact with patients, family, physicians and hospital staff in fulfilling duties and responsibilities of position. Pediatric and/or adolescent: 1 year (Preferred)
school setting: 1 year (Preferred). Family Nurse Practitioner: 1 year (Preferred).  Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred.
