Emergency Room Nurse

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center.  We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off-campus, ambulatory surgery, and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. We’re looking for Experienced Emergency Room Nurses with current New York State license to take on the challenge of our fast-paced emergency room. Our ideal ER nurse will have no less than (5) years of inpatient clinical experience,   be quick-thinking, with strong assessment skills, and the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.

DUTIES

• Responsible for handling initial patient assessments, performing laboratory work, and point of care testing, and associated administrative tasks.
• Assessing and treating a wide variety of life-threatening and non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses
• Administering medication, cleaning lacerations, taking blood work, inserting IV’s, and assisting physicians in and out of the emergency room with patients in pain and with life-threatening trauma.
• Prioritizing and managing multiple cases simultaneously.
• Documenting detailed records of patient vital signs and treatment responses.
• Collaborating with ER doctors on discharge plans and creating outpatient instructions.
• Recommending  treatment options to attending physician
