Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) to join our Neonatal and Pediatric Units. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in promoting patient-centered care, advancing clinical practice, and supporting nursing staff development in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) serves as an expert clinician and resource within the Neonatal and Pediatric care units. The CNL is responsible for coordinating care, improving patient outcomes, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring nursing staff. This role does not function as a traditional manager, but rather as a clinical leader who directly influences the quality of care at the point of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for patients and families to ensure individualized, compassionate care.
  • Enhance communication among healthcare providers to support coordinated, effective care delivery.
  • Mentor and educate nursing staff, with a focus on specialized pediatric and neonatal skills.
  • Identify and implement evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote patient safety by overseeing adherence to infection control and medication protocols.
  • Participate in research initiatives and integrate current best practices into unit procedures.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, especially in complex or critical cases.
  • Coordinate and facilitate daily clinical operations to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee patient transitions and continuity of care across units.
  • Evaluate treatments and identify potential risks for diverse populations.
  • Educate patients and families regarding health conditions and care plans.

Requirements
  • NYS Registered Nurse License and certification required Master’s degree required (Master’s in progress will be considered)
  • 3–5 years of clinical experience in neonatal and/or pediatric nursing
  • Certifications required: BLS, NALS, NRP and PALS ( American Heart Association)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Familiarity with care transitions, risk reduction, and patient safety
