Patient Information Representative
Full-Time Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) | Alternating Weekends
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center – Inpatient Rehabilitation Department

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of the Medisys Health Network, is a 404-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We are currently seeking a Patient Information Representative for an immediate full-time evening shift opportunity in our Inpatient Rehabilitation Department.

As a Patient Information Representative, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a smooth check-in process and accurate collection of patient information. Your role is critical in facilitating efficient hospital operations while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and verify demographic, insurance, and contact information during check-in.
  • Assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments.
  • Confirm insurance coverage and process documentation for billing and financial records.
  • Provide details about hospital services, policies, and procedures to patients and visitors.
  • : Assist with patient record requests, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
  • Inform patients about payment options, copays, and available financial assistance programs.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy in handling patient information.
  • Work closely with nurses, doctors, and administrative staff to support patient care and optimize workflow.

Additional Duties:

  • Utilize EPIC software to input, update, and retrieve patient data.
  • Assist patients in obtaining services, understanding hospital policies, and making informed healthcare decisions.
  • Assemble and maintain patient admission charts.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, family members, medical staff, and administrative teams.
  • Address patient inquiries and ensure satisfactory resolution of concerns or complaints.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and services available to patients.
  • Refer patients to appropriate healthcare providers or external support services.

Requirements
  • Minimum one year of secretarial experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current/recent experience with EPIC software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work alternating weekends as scheduled.

Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $25.14/hr.
