We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our Pathology Department and play a vital role in supporting patient care.

About the Role
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant provides critical support in specimen collection, processing, and clerical duties to ensure smooth laboratory operations. This role requires precision, strong communication, and dedication to patient safety while maintaining excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process specimens including blood, urine, tissue, and stool.
  • Perform phlebotomy with proper patient identification, including newborns and children.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and laboratory equipment for use.
  • Operate and maintain microscopes, centrifuges, and other laboratory instruments.
  • Register patients for laboratory procedures and tests.
  • Enter and manage laboratory data, troubleshoot errors, and collate reports.
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, retrieving/distributing patient records, and managing supply orders.
  • Adhere to safety protocols when handling potentially hazardous materials.

Requirements
  • Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate with at least 2 years of experience, including pediatric and neonatal phlebotomy.
  • Computer proficiency and accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
