JOB SUMMARY:
As the Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) you will play a vital leadership role in the Labor & Delivery unit, ensuring high-quality nursing care for mothers and newborns. This position involves supervising staff, managing patient care, and coordinating with the healthcare team to maintain a safe and efficient unit
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing and coordinating nursing care for patients in labor and delivery.
- Assessing and reassessing maternal and neonatal conditions, ensuring optimal care.
- Developing, updating, and implementing individualized care plans.
- Supporting and initiating breastfeeding and providing guidance to new mothers.
- Identifying and responding to deviations in fetal and neonatal health.
- Providing leadership, direction and support to nursing staff.
- Training, onboarding, and orienting new nursing staff.
- Educating staff regarding medications, dietary needs, and treatment protocols.
- Delivering age-appropriate, culturally competent care to diverse patient populations.
- Administering medications and performing medical treatments as needed.
- Assessing patients’ physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams for comprehensive patient care.
- Educating and supporting patients and families in understanding their care plans.
- Maintaining accurate nursing station records and documentation.
- Ensuring adherence to unit policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing care strategies.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
