Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking to hire an Neurointensivist to join our team in building a neuroscience/neurocritical care program to serve the Queens community for all its neuroscience needs. JHMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a New York State Primary Stroke Center that is thrombectomy capable with plans on becoming a JHCO designated Comprehensive Stroke Center in 2022.

The neuroscience service consists of a full-time cerebrovascular, endovascular, neuro-oncology, spine surgeons, [4 ] neurologists with the perspective of providing the most comprehensive neuroscience service in the borough of Queens in New York City in the near future.

The service would be assisted by experienced and trained PAs, NPs, and residents (medicine and surgery). The high volume of trauma and stroke patients would be a tremendous opportunity for research and practice.

Responsibilities include the development and expansion of Neurocritical Care by providing clinical services, supervision and training of residents, ICU nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

A successful candidate must be comfortable working in a closed NeuroICU and managing all aspects of patient care including ventilators, ventriculostomies, drips, etc.

Requirements
Candidates must be MD, DO, or equivalent, BC/BE in Neurology and Neurocritical Care. NYSMD License Candidates must have completed or be eligible to complete UCNS or ABPN certification in Neurocritical Care.   JHMC is located in an important geopolitical location in New York City close to the JFK airport, being designated as a level I trauma center and a thrombectomy capable stroke center treating hundreds of stroke patients annually. The anticipated primary site of clinical practice will be at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with 408 licensed inpatient beds, outpatient services, but would also be expected to give remote coverage to the other site.
