Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Violence Elimination and Trauma Outreach (VETO) program is a hospital-based violence interruption program. Comprised of a clinical group of trauma physicians, nurses, social workers, and case managers, the program focuses on healing injuries and addressing the non-medical determinants of health for gun violence survivors and families by providing violence intervention services and guidance to hospital and community resources. We are currently seeking a VETO Program and Trauma Education Training Manager for immediate full-time employment. Under the direction of the Trauma Program Director, selected incumbent will act and serve as leader, trainer, and educator in and for the trauma center.
DUTIES:
VETO PROGRAM
- Leading and managing hospital-based violence intervention program.
- Providing daily administrative and program oversight for VETO PATH Coach and Care Coordination team members.
- Overseeing and ensuring the enrollment of qualified programs (patients/participants).
- Establishing, maintaining, and expanding sustainable, culturally appropriate internal and external services to address the unique needs and challenges of victims and their families.
- Facilitating and overseeing patient follow-up in Trauma Survivor Center.
- Acting as a liaison between JHMC’s trauma center and Community Based Organizations,
- Participating in the development, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of Program evaluation findings.
- Directly engaging with patients, support services and community-based organizations.
- Ensuring appropriate, efficient, timely documentation.
- Maintaining files, statistical data, and referral logs.
- Attending appropriate project meetings, community meetings and in-services and educational opportunities.
- Providing timely and appropriate reports to the Trauma Program and other hospital leadership as directed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
TRAUMA TRAINING & EDUCATION
- Assisting and coordinating Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses for providers.
- Directing and instructing Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) for nursing staff.
- Delivering other pre-developed trauma nursing educational activities as able.
- Developing and delivering trauma-related nursing education to all areas where trauma patients are cared for, including, but not limited to: ED, OR, PACU, STICU, Floor, Radiology, and specialty care areas within the hospital.
- Attending and participating in facility, system, local, regional, and state trauma education committees, and activities.
- Maintaining accurate records of educational activities.
- Providing timely and appropriate reports to the Trauma Program and other hospital leadership as directed.
