The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center recognizes that there are times when patients in need of care will have difficulty paying for the services provided. The Jamaica Hospital Financial Assistance Program provides discounts to qualifying individuals based on your income.

The Financial Investigation Department has full time opportunities for a Financial Investigator.

Hours: Days (Monday – Friday) 8:30am – 5pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interview patients for Public Health Insurance or Financial Aid.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Call insurance companies for eligibility if not provided online.
  • Visit patients while in-house if needed to complete and obtain needed documents for Public Health Insurance or Financial Aid.
  • Submit applications to DOH and HRA, responsible for entering information into Hospital system to track patient’s status.
  • Perform office duties such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, sending emails, Xeroxing and answering phones etc.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma Required. College degree preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience in healthcare financial investigation is preferred. Knowledge of Public Health Insurance, Financial Aid, pre-authorization admissions, and 3rd party eligibility benefits is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Epic (Electronic Medical Records) & Marketplace preferred.
  • Computer knowledge is a plus
