WOUND CARE REGISTERED NURSE

12-Hour Day Shifts  &  8-Hour Day Shifts   

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center currently seeks Wound Care RNs for immediate full-time 12-hour or 8-hour day shift opportunities.

As  Wound Care Team RN, you will provide clinical support to the patient care team for inpatient skin/wound care. Assessing and monitoring patient wounds.

Collaboratively teaming with wound care team members on designated units to educate patients, family, and staff regarding best wound care prevention, treatment, ostomy care,

or continence care practices.  Collaborating and leading the ambulation team to increase patients’ mobility while preventing pressure injuries.  Participating in quarterly prevalence skin rounds on designated units. Attending and representing designated units at monthly wound care committee meetings.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program and holds a NYS Registered Professional Nurse License. Associate degree; prefer BSN
  • Prior experience in wound care preferred but will train.
  • WOCN certificate preferred. Should obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Current NYS RN license
  • Current AHA BLS

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess good assessment skills to identify changes in patient conditions.
  • Must have good Oral and written communication skills.
  • Good planning, organization, and teamwork ability.
  • Computer literate.
  • Analytical skills, problem identification, and ability to identify alternative courses of action for patient care.
  • Minimum knowledge of basic nursing principles, including infection control.
