The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s located in Queens NY, Department of Radiology offers a wide variety of advanced, state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging services. Our medical team consists of highly qualified Board Certified and fellowship-trained professionals; and is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology.

We curently have Full -time and per diem opportunities for Ultrasound Techs with RDMS Certification and 2-5 years experience in a hospital setting. Candidates must be willing and available to work alternate weekends/holidays.

Duties:

As a diagnostic medical sonographer you will specialize in creating images, known as sonograms or ultrasounds, that depict the body's organs and tissues. Sonography is often the first imaging test performed when disease is suspected. Sonography uses high-energy sound waves to produce images of the inside of the body.

  • Explain ultrasound procedures to patients so they feel comfortable with the experience
  • Calibrate, maintain and control all ultrasound equipment
  • Perform ultrasounds on 10-15 patients per day, on average
  • Take sonogram still images and video for physician and patients
  • Notify Physicians of any abnormalities or concerns immediately
  • Chart ultrasound results when required
  • Soothe and reassure nervous or anxious patients
  • See patients on time and reschedule patients as necessar

 

 

 

Requirements
  • Candidates must have at least 2-5 years of acute care experience in a hospital setting.
  • Education: Minimum of 2 years education in an accredited Ultrasound Program, required.
  • License/Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Skills: Advanced computer skills are required. A full working knowledge of the Ultrasound scanners is required. Must be willing to perform a 3-4 hour scanning during the interview process.
