Protecting a Hospital Takes More Than Watching a Door.
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking experienced, licensed Security Officers who can help maintain a safe, secure, and respectful environment for our patients, visitors, and employees.

This is an active hospital security role requiring sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond appropriately when situations become challenging.

IMPORTANT: A valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record is an absolute requirement for this position.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor hospital entrances, facilities, and sensitive areas
  • Enforce access-control and visitor policies
  • Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds
  • Identify and report potential safety and security concerns
  • Respond to incidents and use appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and security documentation
  • Assist with maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Required New York State Security Guard training, including 8-hour and 16-hour certifications
  • Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record is required
  • Fire Guard certification within six months of hire
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work professionally with patients, visitors, employees, and the public
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, or night shifts
