Security Lieutenant

Now Hiring: Security Lieutenant (Full-Time, Night Shift)

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of the MediSys Health Network, is a 404-bed, fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center located in Queens, NY. We are recognized for our commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to one of the most culturally diverse populations in the nation.

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Security Lieutenant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in security supervision, law enforcement, or military service, along with a passion for maintaining a safe and respectful environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, lead, and motivate a team of Security Sergeants and Officers across the hospital campus.
  • Conduct rounds of assigned security posts; observe and address any potential safety risks.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate incident responses in collaboration with hospital administration and external law enforcement as needed.
  • Investigate thefts, policy violations, and other incidents; prepare detailed and timely reports.
  • Serve as a liaison between hospital departments, staff, and visitors.
  • Enforce hospital regulations regarding access control, loitering, and general conduct on premises.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Completion of 8-hour Annual In-Service and 16-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
