Security Lieutenant – Night Shift

Leadership Matters When Safety Is on the Line.
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking an experienced Security Lieutenant to lead Security Sergeants and Officers on the night shift.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can take command during incidents, make sound decisions under pressure, hold staff accountable, and maintain a safe and respectful environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise, direct, and support Security Sergeants and Officers across the hospital campus
  • Conduct rounds, monitor security posts, and address safety or security concerns
  • Take a leadership role during emergencies and coordinate responses with hospital leadership and law enforcement when necessary
  • Investigate incidents, thefts, and policy violations and ensure accurate, timely reporting
  • Oversee access control and enforcement of hospital security policies
  • Communicate effectively with clinical departments, employees, patients, visitors, and outside agencies
  • Maintain staff accountability and professional standards throughout the shift

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or the military
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Completion of required 8-hour Annual In-Service and 16-hour On-the-Job Training
  • Strong leadership, communication, incident-management, and critical-thinking skills
