DEPARTMENT:  ENDOSCOPY/BRONCHOSCOPY      

DAY SHIFT:  M – F

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404-bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center.  We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off campus, ambulatory surgery, and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. We are currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses for immediate full-time day shift opportunities in our Endoscopy/Bronchoscopy Department.

DUTIES

  • As an RN in our Endoscopy department, you will essentially function as a self-directed nurse, assuming responsibility for patient care and patient flow of Gastroenterology patients through the Endoscopy unit.
  • Assuming shared responsibility for the collaborative screening of consults requesting services.
  • Educating patients and family members in understanding pre, intra, and post-procedure activities for patients undergoing endo/ASU/bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Accurately assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the medical, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients in relation to the diagnosis, optimal treatment options, psychosocial impact, and individualized plan of care.
  • Collaborating with primary caregivers, surgeons, Gastroenterologists, and other health team professionals to implement plan of care for the patient.

Requirements
  • Current NYS RN licensure
  • Prior Endoscopy experience wanted, but willing to train. 
  • Certification in this area of specialty is preferred.
  • Adept and proficient in IV Placement
  • Current ACLS/BCLS required.
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills required.
