PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Department: SICU          Full-Time      Evening Shift

The Department of Surgery at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a comprehensive surgical care facility.  We provide multiple surgical specialties, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  As a trusted New York trauma center, our team of highly qualified general surgery specialists work hard to deliver compassionate care to people from all walks of life.  We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant with critical care experience for an immediate full-time evening opportunity in our Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

DUTIES:

As a member of our multi-specialty team, you will serve as a principal healthcare provider working with Critical Care/Trauma attending in our busy SICU.  Typical duties will include:

• Taking initial patient histories and performing physical examinations.
• Evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and managing treatment plans
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests
• Counseling patients
• Performing various medical procedures and assisting in surgical operations
• Conferring with attending physicians, residents and, other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
