The Department of Rehabilitation at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides sophisticated and personalized physical therapy in Queens, NY, to individuals living with injuries involving nerves, bones, joints, acute or chronic pain syndrome.

The Department of Rehabilitation offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services and is staffed with highly-skilled therapists and physicians, trained to treat a wide variety of neuromuscular or musculoskeletal injuries, traumatic brain injuries/neurological injuries, pain syndromes, and other disabilities. We are currently seeking experienced Physical Therapy Assistants for immediate full-time opportunities.  

Our ideal candidate will be a passionate skilled clinician who will implement the rehabilitative plan of care under the direction and supervision of a qualified physical therapist.  Other typical duties will include:

 DESCRIPTION:

  • Observing patient range of motion to assess and record patient progress. 
  • Assisting in developing and modifying treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintaining, documenting, and recording patient progress and medical reports.
  • Advising and assisting patients and families in understanding treatment plans and exercise goals.
  • Utilizing therapeutic massage and other techniques including electrical muscle stimulation and ultrasounds, to facilitate a patient's range of motion, relieve pain, decrease muscle tension, and increase blood flow.
  • Assisting in the rehabilitation process and education of amputees in the use of prosthetic devices.
Requirements
  • Highschool diploma or equivalency required
  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum with an Associate Degree that has been approved by the American Physical Therapy Association Professional experience preferred
