To provide physical therapy care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist and to perform such patient related activities as are assigned by the supervising physical therapist to patients of all ages. Duties of physical therapist assistant shall not include evaluation, testing, interpretation, planning or modification of patient programs.
Requirements
Degree from an APTA accredited program, or equivalent. New York State License as Physical Therapist Assistant and current NYS Registration, or eligible to work on a limited permit. May be new graduate or have experience; be able to demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic indications, contraindications, precautions, as related to PT; demonstrate adequate clinical skills necessary to perform patient care. Demonstrate competency using EHR, computer-based applications, etc. Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, lift objects around 25 lbs. Frequently kneels, climbs stairs, reaches above/below shoulder height.
