Patient Care Associate – Labor & Delivery 

Full-Time Day Shift  Alternating Weekends                                        

The Labor & Delivery Unit at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides comprehensive labor and deliver services for more than 2,000 births each year.   Our labor and delivery unit offers the latest medical technology, and our team approach ensures a birthing experience that is patient focused.  We are currently seeking an experienced Patient Care Associate for an immediate Full Time night shift opportunity.

DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of unit Registered Nurse Staff, the selected candidate will assist with the routine care of assigned patients. Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Bathing patients
  • Changing patients’ bed sheets, and pillows, and turning or repositioning patients in their beds
  • Helping patients dress or use the bathroom.
  • Listening to patients’ health concerns, recording them, and reporting them to a nurse or physician
  • Serving meals to patients and helping them eat
  • Measuring patients’ vitals, such as temperature and blood pressure

Requirements
  • Must have Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or Certified Patient Care Assistant certification.
  • Must have EKG AND Phlebotomy certification.  
  • Prior experience working as a Patient Care Associate or Patient Care Technician in surgery or OB nursing a PLUS.
  • BLS certificate from American Heart Association
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Must be available to work alternating weekend shifts.
  • Basic computer skills
