Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a fully accredited community based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center . Due to our recent expansion, we are currently seeking ex perienced Ophthalmic Technicians. The Division of Ophthalmology at Jamaica Hospital offers a full range of medical, diagnostic, and surgical services. From annual eye examinations to surgical procedures, our Board Certified, fellowship trained Ophthalmologists and support staff are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disorders and ophthalmic conditions. We utilize the latest diagnostic equipment and a full range of lasers to treat a broad range of conditions: In addition, our Operating Room is equipped to perform modern cataract extractions, glaucoma surgery, oculoplastic procedures, and pediatric ophthalmology procedures.
DUTIES:
Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments, authorizations and surgeries.
Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories.
• Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to, intraocular pressures, basic motility, visual fields, PAM and BAT tests, A-Scan ultrasonography and fundus photography.
• Assist the physician during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation, sterile preparations and documentation.
• Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the provider for testing or treatment.
• Prepare and position patient for diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Assist the physician with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements
• Minimum 1 year Ophthalmic Technician experience/Certification preferred.
