Morgue Attendant – Per Diem

The Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories at Jamaica Hospital is a state-of-the-art, full-service laboratory that performs approximately 1.5 million tests annually to help detect, diagnose and prevent disease. The department includes the clinical divisions of Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy. We are currently seeking a Morgue Attendant for an immediate  Per Diem opportunity in our Pathology Department.  

DUTIES

• As part of the postmortem examination process selected candidates will assist pathologists in preparing bodies and organ specimens for examination.
• Maintaining morgue room, supplies and equipment.
• Laying out surgical instruments and lab supplies.
• Operating portable hoist to place body on the examining table or in a refrigeration unit.
• Assisting pathologist and recording, identifying information for patient's morgue file.
• Cleaning instruments, trays, and examination tables.
• Lifting and transporting corpses.

Providing additional assistance and support to pathologist and coroner as needed
