Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled HVAC B Mechanics to join our Plant Operations Department. The ideal candidate will install, maintain, and repair water-based heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and commercial refrigeration systems. This role includes monitoring system performance, analyzing blueprints and specifications, and ensuring HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently across the hospital campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Monitor, adjust, and optimize equipment settings for peak performance.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications for installations.
  • Examine pipes, tubing joints, and connections to detect leaks.
  • Test electrical circuits and components for continuity and proper function.
  • Repair or replace defective HVAC equipment.
  • Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers.
  • Connect HVAC systems to fuel, water, or refrigerant sources and adjust controls to balance the system.
  • Assemble, position, and mount HVAC equipment; solder, weld, or braise metal pipes and connectors.
  • Record work performed, including time, materials, faults, and deficiencies, on work orders.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid NYC Fire Department Refrigeration Operator’s License.
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness G-60 (Use of Flammable Gases for Hot Work Operations).
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness F-60 (Fire Guard for Torch Operations & Construction Site).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic B.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals accurately.
  • Reliability, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
