Registered Nurse

At Flushing Hospital Medical Center, our Intensive Care Units are staffed by physicians, nurses and other specialist trained in critical care and how to treat critically ill patients with advanced non-invasive and invasive procedures.  Our Critical Care Unit staff provide around the clock high-quality care to patients to ensure appropriate and consistent care. Patients and their families can expect to receive sensitive, patient-centered medical care from our expert team of physicians and nursing staff.

We are currently seeking RNs for immediate full-time night flex shift opportunities in our ICU.  Must be able to handle the challenges of a busy fast paced environment, be quick-thinking, with strong assessment skills and the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.

DUTIES

Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
Instruct and educate patients and families.
Provide respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
Carry out physician orders.
Orient and mentor new staff members.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
