Jamaica Hospital

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys  Health Network is a 424 bed fully accredited  community based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center .  We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off campus, ambulatory surgery and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. We are proud of our uncompromising commitment and approach in providing the highest levels of professional, compassionate care to the many culturally diverse, undeserved patients and residents in Queens. We are currently seeking an experienced Electrician A  for a full time,  day shift position in our Plant Operations Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of our Lead Electrician selected candidate will operate and maintain hospital emergency power systems. Performing highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting of facility  electrical systems.

  • Repairing and installing all types of commercial electrical equipment.
  • Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to detect hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure building and safety code compliance.
  • Utilizing wiring diagrams, blueprints, and other building specifications to plan and complete repair work orders.
  • Participating in group/team cleanups of department areas.
  •  Conducting facility rounds as needed to detect and make adjustments to electrical systems as needed.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • NYC Special Electricians License (within 1 year). 10 years of satisfactory experience as an Electrician or equivalent title.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • 5 years of satisfactory experience as Electrician A or equivalent title. OR
  • 2 years’ experience as an Electrician B at JHMC  5 years of satisfactory experience as Electrician A or equivalent title.                                    OR
  • 2 years’ experience as an Electrician B at JHMC
  • Must be able to work in every shift (Morning, Evening and Overnight) as needed
  • Must be able to work weekends as needed
