CARPENTER B PLANT OPERATIONS

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Our Plant Operations Department offers comprehensive services including a full range of building trades services which are responsible for routine maintenance and minor/major space alterations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, grounds maintenance, locksmith, custodial, moving and setup services. We are currently seeking an experienced Carpenter B for immediate full time day shift opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direct supervision of the Lead Carpenter selected candidate will:

  • Following blueprints and building plans to perform various carpentry projects.
  • Installing and repairing facility structures and fixtures.
  • Measuring , cutting , and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials
  • Constructing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes Assisting in erecting, leveling, and installing building framework.
  • Inspecting and replacing damaged framework and other structures and fixtures.
  • Removing and demolishing sheet rock walls.
  • Constructing and repairing existing suspended ceiling systems.
  • Removing, repairing and installing all types of tile on horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Performing other carpentry related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in carpentry, woodworking, building construction or cabinetry as a Carpenter's Helper or Apprentice.
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays when required
