Assist Program Director in the implementation of The Special Supplemental Food and Nutrition Education Program for Women, Infants and Children.
Under the direction and supervision of the Breastfeeding Coordinator and the Breastfeeding Assistant’s, the primary responsibility of the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (PC) is to serve as a support person who gives basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Must use proper etiquette and exhibit outstanding customer service skills at all times, especially while interacting with participants, colleagues, visitors, vendors and supervisors.

Requirements
High School Diploma required. Has breastfed at least one baby (does not have to be currently breastfeeding). Is enthusiastic about breastfeeding and wants to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience. Has a telephone and is willing to make and receive phone calls/text messages from supervisors. Has reliable transportation. Must attend a series of breastfeeding classes to become a peer counselor. Nursing babies are welcomed.Observes other peer counselors or breastfeeding experts helping mother’s breastfeed. Reads assigned books or materials about breastfeeding.
