Admitting Representative – Hospital Registration | Evening & Night Shifts
Location: Jamaica, NY
Department: Admitting
Pay Rate: $26.40/hour
Schedule: Full-Time Evening Shift & Part-Time Evening and Night Shifts

About Us
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a 384-bed Level I Trauma Center committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse community. We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Admitting Representative to join our team.

Position Overview
The Admitting Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, responsible for registration, insurance verification, and ensuring accurate patient information in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role is critical to maintaining efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.

Training Requirement (Important)
All candidates must complete a structured training program:

3 weeks – Day Shift
3 weeks – Evening Shift
1 week – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities

  • Register patients accurately and efficiently in the hospital system
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Collect and review patient demographic and financial information
  • Provide clear communication regarding forms, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative departments to support patient flow
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients and families in a fast-paced setting

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)
  • Prior experience in hospital registration, admitting, or healthcare front desk preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with EMR systems
