Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a 404-bed Level I Trauma Center ranked in the top 5% nationwide for clinical excellence (Healthgrades 2020), is seeking skilled Staff Pharmacists for immediate full-time Day Shift temporary opportunity. Position Overview

As a Staff Pharmacist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and timely medication management. This position covers a wide range of responsibilities, from dispensing and distribution to clinical monitoring, sterile compounding, and patient education. You’ll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams while supporting pharmacy students and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and process physician orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and interactions.
  • Dispense and prepare medications, including sterile products and chemotherapy.
  • Provide drug information and counseling to prescribers, nurses, and patients.
  • Oversee and guide pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and safe handling of all medications.
  • Support education and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited five- or six-year pharmacy program.
  • Active NY State Pharmacist license and registration required.
  • Strong clinical judgment, ethical standards, and professional character.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.
