Senior Fire Safety Manager – Safety Department 
Location: Jamaica, Queens
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Days

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of the MediSys Health Network, is a fully accredited, community-based teaching hospital and a Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of professional, compassionate care to the underserved residents of Queens. We are seeking a Senior Fire Safety Manager to join our Safety Department.

Position Overview
As the Senior Fire Safety Manager, you will oversee fire prevention, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires expertise in regulatory fire codes including FDNY, The Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies to maintain a secure hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
Fire Prevention & Compliance:

  • Conduct fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement fire safety plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all fire codes and regulations, including Joint Commission standards and FDNY requirements.
  • Maintain and update Fire Plans for hospital and office buildings.
  • Investigate and resolve Fire Department violations.
  • Oversee contractor work related to fire safety.

Inspection, Maintenance & Emergency Preparedness:

  • Manage inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, and suppression systems.
  • Respond to and investigate fire alarm activations.
  • Maintain fire safety signage and conduct regular fire safety inspections.
  • Conduct and document fire drills across all shifts per NFPA and FDNY guidelines.
  • Oversee Fire Watch activities and maintain accurate logs.
  • Inspect hot work areas for fire safety compliance.
  • Participate in hospital life safety meetings.

Training & Documentation:

  • Develop and deliver fire safety training programs for hospital staff.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of fire safety experience (hospital setting preferred).
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission fire safety standards.
  • Fire alarm testing and inspection experience required.

Certifications:

  • FDNY Citywide Fire Drill Conductor, Fire Alarm Supervisor, and Sprinkler/Standpipe Certifications.
  • OSHA 15-30 Hour Certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $95,000 per year
  • Benefits: Full PTO and comprehensive benefits package
