Psychotherapist – Center of Excellence Grant Program

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (a member of the Medisys Health Network) is a fully accredited, community-based teaching hospital and a Level I Trauma and Stroke Center committed to providing professional, compassionate care to the underserved patients and residents of Queens.

We are seeking a full-time Psychotherapist to join our Center of Excellence (COE) Grant Program. This program is dedicated to advancing clinical research, providing specialized treatment for complex mental health conditions, developing innovative therapies, and advocating for improved patient care—particularly for minority and underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized mental health treatment tailored to the COE’s focus, such as trauma-informed care, culturally sensitive therapy, or evidence-based interventions for specific disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Participate in research by collecting and analyzing data, contributing to publications, and integrating findings into clinical practice.
  • Train and educate healthcare professionals on best practices within the COE’s specialty area.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote mental health awareness and improve access to care.

Requirements
  • Current New York State (LMSW or LCSW)  licensure and registration certificate.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or a related field.
  • Completion of a clinical internship in New York.
  • Minimum 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised experience (including 1,500 hours of direct client contact).
  • Successful completion of the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) or a comparable exam.

SALARY: $39.14/hr. – $51.20/hr. DOE
