LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES – EMERGENCY ROOM

EMERGENCY ROOM

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is an American College of Surgeons (ACS) and NYS Designated Level 1 Trauma Center. We provide the highest level of care to trauma patients.   Our state of the art emergency department and expert trauma specialist teams are on hand 247  and we  treat more than 1,500 trauma related  activations annually.   We are currently seeking  Licensed Practical Nurses for immediate F/T Day and Night Shift opportunities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Selected candidates will administer care to patients of all ages, genders, and ailments. Duties will include:

  •  Assisting Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and other members of the health care team with collecting data and rooming patients.
  • Documenting nursing observations, interventions, and patient’s response to treatment.
  • Taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing electrocardiograms and assisting with scheduling appointments when needed.
  •  Collecting specimens and performing phlebotomy for lab tests.
  •  Collecting and perform point-of-care testing (POCT).
  •  Reviewing and maintaining vaccine documentation.

Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited school for licensed practical nursing.
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, PALS and CPI Certification..
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical LPN experience, in a acute care setting.
  • Must be able to effectively perform in fast paced stressful setting.
  • Must be available to work alternate weekends.
  • Bilingual preferred.
