Fire Safety Manager (Temporary Assignment)

Position Summary

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a member of the MediSys Health Network, is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager to oversee fire and life safety compliance across our hospital campus.

The Fire Safety Manager will lead fire prevention initiatives, emergency preparedness activities, staff training, inspections, and regulatory compliance efforts while ensuring adherence to FDNY, NFPA, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the hospital-wide Fire and Life Safety Program.
  • Ensure compliance with FDNY, NFPA, OSHA, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Develop and maintain fire safety plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Coordinate and document fire drills across all shifts.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe, and suppression systems.
  • Serve as liaison with FDNY and other regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate fire safety incidents and resolve compliance issues.
  • Manage Fire Watch activities and maintain required documentation.
  • Provide fire safety education and training for hospital staff.
  • Participate in Safety, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management meetings.

Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of fire safety experience.
  • Working knowledge of FDNY regulations, NFPA codes, OSHA standards, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Experience coordinating inspections, drills, and compliance programs.
  • Healthcare or hospital experience preferred.

Required Certifications

  • FDNY Citywide Fire Drill Conductor
  • FDNY Fire Alarm Supervisor
  • FDNY Sprinkler/Standpipe Certification

Preferred

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Joint Commission survey readiness experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Temporary Assignment

This is a temporary full-time assignment supporting the Safety Department. Assignment details and duration will be discussed during the interview process.
