Data Analyst – Health Equity

Department: Health Equity
Location: Jamaica Hospital Medical Center
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary Range: $90,000 – $95,000

About the Role

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly analytical and mission-driven Data Analyst – Health Equity to join our growing team.

In this role, you will partner with clinical, operational, and executive leadership to transform complex healthcare data into meaningful insights that drive health equity, quality improvement, and population health initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Network Director of Health Equity, you will play a key role in identifying disparities in care, supporting research and grant initiatives, and advancing data-driven strategies to improve outcomes across diverse patient populations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Extract, validate, and analyze data from electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare data sources
  • Perform advanced descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to support programs, research, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain the Health Equity Dashboard to track key performance and quality metrics
  • Generate reports, visualizations, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders

Research & Health Equity Initiatives

  • Support and contribute to health equity research projects, including observational and intervention studies
  • Collaborate with leadership to conceptualize and execute research, quality improvement, and grant-funded initiatives
  • Assist in preparing data for publications, conferences, and reporting requirements
  • Analyze data related to:
    Social determinants of health
    Community health and disparities
    Maternal and child health
    Behavioral health and underserved populations

Data Integrity & Compliance

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of datasets
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational data governance standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with clinical, administrative, and operational teams to translate data into actionable insights
  • Support evaluation, surveillance, and reporting needs across departments

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Provide high-level support to department leadership, including:
    Managing calendars, meetings, and communications
    Coordinating conferences, presentations, and virtual meetings
    Preparing reports, meeting materials, and documentation
    Maintaining databases and departmental records

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong analytical, research, and statistical skills
  • Experience with statistical software such as STATA, SAS, and/or R
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in a related field
  • Experience working with real-world healthcare data (EHR/EMR, claims, registries)
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as:
    Tableau
    Power BI
    ArcGIS
  • Knowledge of health equity frameworks, structural determinants of health, and healthcare disparities
  • Experience in grant writing, research publication, or academic collaboration
