CONTROLLER – CREDIT UNION 

Medisys EFCU was chartered in 1972 as Jamaica Hospital Employees FCU, to serve the employees working at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, Queens, NY. Over the years, and as the hospital’s influence has grown and changed, we have expanded our field of membership to include employees working for the many entities that operate under the management of Medisys Health Network . We are currently seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations within our Credit Union.

Reporting to the CEO, selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations within the credit union.  Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, preparing financial reports, maintaining internal controls, and complying with relevant regulations, and  ensuring the financial health and reporting of the credit union is accurate and compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

KEY REPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Creating and managing the credit union’s budget, forecasting future financial performance.
  • Implementing and monitoring internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure accuracy of accounting data.
  • Staying updated on and adhering to all applicable credit union regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks such as general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and payroll processing.
  • Interpreting financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide insights to management.
  • Recording and reporting of tangible taxes, back-up withholding, tax exemption status, and credit life & disability insurance.
  • Processing  CECL calculation, assisting CEO with CU Investments, approving consumer and mortgage loans as needed.
  • Evaluating, processing and maintaining all loans participations.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance from a four-year accredited college or university is required or Five (5) to eight (8) years of related experience and/or training in the field of accounting/finance. Candidates may qualify with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Expertise in credit union operations and regulations.
  • Financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills .
    SALARY: $85K – 100K   Plus Full Benefits & PTO
