When Medical Equipment Has to Work, Your Expertise Matters.
Every day, clinicians depend on medical equipment that must perform safely, accurately, and reliably.

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Specialist with hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and maintaining electronic or biomedical equipment. You’ll help ensure the technology our clinical teams rely on is ready when patient care depends on it.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, calibration, and testing of medical equipment
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and install biomedical devices across multiple manufacturer platforms
  • Respond to equipment issues and help minimize downtime that could impact patient care
  • Maintain accurate service records, equipment histories, and required documentation
  • Work with clinical staff, manufacturers, and vendors to resolve technical issues
  • Coordinate parts and outside service support when necessary
  • Help ensure equipment meets applicable regulatory and hospital safety requirements

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electronics & Computer Technology, Biomedical Technology, military technical training, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on electronic/biomedical equipment repair or clinical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain electronic or biomedical equipment
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Hospital-based clinical engineering experience is preferred. Experience with patient monitoring, imaging, life-support equipment, medical device cybersecurity, or EMR integration is also a plus.
