Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 424 bed fully accredited community based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has proudly served the community for over a century. Today, we continue to meet the needs of our diverse population by providing a wide range of quality healthcare services. We are currently have a great opportunity for a Benefits Assistant to assist our Benefits Department.

Duties

Selected candidate will:

  • Assist the Benefits Department and serve as a receptionist for the department and direct inquires to the appropriate benefits staff member.
  • Supports department with clerical assistance to include faxing, filing and distribution of mass mailings.
  • Data entry and filing of employee incidents
  • Handles routine staff inquiries about Benefits
  • Assists with record maintenance of Leaves and follow up with staff out on LOA ensure proper documentation is received in a timely matter and staff are not out beyond allotted timeframe.
  • Issues appropriate forms to staff
  • Manages update of changed addresses for benefits correspondence
  • Preparation of 1199 pension related information and motor vehicle insurance forms
  • Audit voluntary insurance files as they go over to the vendor.
  • Maintains organization of department files.
  • Supports department with special projects.
Requirements
  • Must have Baccalaureate with Benefits or related experience highly preferred.
  • Prior benefits experience required.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer skills ( Must know Excel).
