Flushing Hospital

  • Flushing Hospital Medical Center is a 293-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital. The hospital offers a variety of services for a culturally diverse community, including Bariatric Surgical Service, Ambulatory Care Center, Women’s Health Center, Wound Care Center, and Chemical Dependence Unit. Our busy on-site full-service pharmacy provides prescription services to discharged, emergency department, and clinic patients as well as employees. We are currently seeking a Coder for an immediate part-time evening shift position.

  • •Reading and analyzing patient records
  • •Determining the correct codes for patient records
  • •Using codes to bill insurance providers
  • •Interacting with physicians and assistants to ensure accuracy
  • •Keeping track of patient data over multiple visits
  • •Managing detailed, specifically-coded information
  • •Maintaining patient confidentiality and information security
Requirements

Job Requirements:

College Degree preferred. Accreditation with at least one credential such as RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician, CCS (Certified Coding Specialists), or CPC (Certified Professional Coder). Proficient in Microsoft office, especially Word. Strong Customer Service skills. Understands and uses search engines and web sites – Tech Savvy. Strong Time Management Skills. Ability to Multi Task. Expertise in Coding. Ability to work under supervision as well as independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous hospital experience preferred.
