Flushing Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) has a career opportunity for a Person Centered Services (PCS) Care Advocate. The PCS Care Advocate works with and under the direction of the Director of Person-Centered Services and the Director of PCS Advocacy to implement proactive and service recovery program methods that enhance the patient’s experience.

Responsibilities:

The Care Advocate will work with patients and families to address concerns, complaints, and if need be, escalate issues accordingly to appropriate personnel during their hospital stay.  The Care Advocate works collaboratively to implement, and participate in person-centered care initiatives including provision of holistic treatment tailored to patient preferences. He/she supports and participates in programming to create healing environments. The Care Advocate is responsible and accountable for promoting the culture of Person Centered Care concepts and practices within the organization.

Requirements

Required Education/Skills:

High School Diploma; Healthcare or customer service related degree preferred. 

For licensed personnel, current NYS license is required

Related experience in customer service in a healthcare environment or holistic care preferred

Strong customer service skills

Strong problem solving ability

Strong interpersonal skills

Required personal quality include empathy, respect, integrity, understanding, and good judgment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and GroupWise/Outlook
