Experienced OB Nurses: Bring Your Skills to Jamaica Hospital
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery/OBGYN team on the Full-Time Night Shift.

This is a specialized acute-care nursing role requiring strong maternal-fetal assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to recognize and respond rapidly to changes in maternal and fetal condition. Candidates must have relevant hospital-based obstetrical nursing experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery, and recovery
  • Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments
  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and identify changes requiring intervention
  • Recognize and respond rapidly to obstetrical emergencies and changes in maternal or fetal condition
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout the childbirth experience
  • Collaborate closely with obstetricians, anesthesia providers, neonatal staff, and the interdisciplinary care team

Requirements
  • Recent hospital-based Labor & Delivery or acute-care obstetrical nursing experience required
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency required
  • BLS certification (AHA required)
  • NRP certification required or must be obtained within the designated orientation period
  • Strong maternal-fetal assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to recognize and respond effectively to obstetrical emergencies
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment during the night shift
  • Electronic fetal monitoring is a specialized obstetric competency, and AWHONN provides dedicated evidence-based fetal heart monitoring education for clinicians caring for women and newborns. [awhonn.org]

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • C-EFM certification
  • RNC-OB certification
  • Additional high-risk obstetrical nursing experience
