Our Pediatric Emergency Department delivers 24/7 emergency care to infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our E/R Pediatric Nursing team on a full-time day shift (7a–7p). This role is designed for experienced nurses who can function independently, make rapid clinical decisions, and safely manage pediatric emergencies and trauma cases.

This position is not appropriate for new graduates. The ideal candidate brings strong pediatric and emergency nursing experience to ensure the highest standard of patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid triage and focused assessments of pediatric emergency patients.
  • Deliver emergency nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Initiate and manage pediatric emergency interventions, including:
    – Airway and respiratory management
    – IV/IO access
    –  Emergency medication administration-
    – Trauma and medical resuscitation support
  • Continuously reassess patients and respond to changes in condition
  • Provide family-centered care during high-stress emergency situations
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric emergency physicians, paramedics, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Health, hospital, and pediatric ER protocols

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
  • Active New York State RN License
  • Ideal Experience Level: 2–3 years of recent Pediatric ER experience
  • Strong consideration given to candidates with:
    –  Pediatric Emergency Department experience
    – Adult ER experience with significant pediatric volume
    – PICU or other high-acuity pediatric critical care backgrounds
  • AHA BLS and PALS certifications required (ACLS preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
  • Excellent pediatric assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills
