Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Development to lead and execute all fundraising initiatives across our two-hospital system (Jamaica Hospital and Flushing Hospital). This role will focus on cultivating major gifts and grants, donor relations, and planning high-impact fundraising campaigns and events. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a proven track record in securing funding from diverse sources, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government grants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing multi-year fundraising strategies to support hospital operations, expansion projects, and community programs.
  • Building relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate sponsors, and foundations, ensuring long-term engagement and giving.
    Overseeing major gift solicitation, capital campaigns, planned giving programs, and endowment-building initiatives.
  • Planning  and executing large-scale fundraising events such as annual galas, golf outings, and donor appreciation gatherings.
  • Identifying, researching, and applying for grants from government agencies.
  • Leading a team of development professionals, including grant writers and development officers, while collaborating with hospital leadership and board members.
  • Overseeing fundraising software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) to track donor engagement, analyze giving trends, and optimize fundraising efforts.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Certificate in Fundraising Management preferred).
  • 5-10 years of experience leading a development department in a healthcare or nonprofit setting.
  • Established portfolio of potential donors and a strong network in philanthropy.
  • Proven success in major gift solicitation, donor relations, and capital campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, healthcare philanthropy, and grant acquisition.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
