DEPARTMENT: Transportation Coordination Center
Location: Jamaica, Queens – New York Day 
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the MediSys Health Network is a fully accredited
community based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. Our MediSys Health
Network provides emergency ambulance service in the New York City 911 system and operates
one of the largest hospital-based ambulance services within the five boroughs of New York
City. Our MediSys Ambulance teams provide emergency response and inter-facility transports
to and from hospitals, private residences, and doctor’s offices on a pre-scheduled or emergent
basis. Highly trained certified emergency medical dispatchers work diligently to coordinate all
aspects of patient transportation. Our Transport Coordination Center utilizes a sophisticated,
state-of-the-art computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to continually monitor on-time
performance. We are currently seeking an experienced Dispatch Manager to oversee and
manage the daily operations of our Ambulance Service Transportation Coordination Center.
DUTIES:

  • Overseeing all aspects of the Transportation Coordination Center.
  • Managing and coordinating the daily operations of the center and all employees
  • assigned to the center.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and approving overtime and extended hours as needed
  • Assisting in compiling monthly statistics for Quality Management.
  • Adhering to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and the MediSys Health Network
  • departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable JCAHO/regulatory agency
  • requirements.
  • Demonstrating and promoting service excellence at all times.
Requirements
  • New York State Driver’s License.
  • New York State Emergency Medical Technician Required - Paramedic Preferred
  • Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher preferred.
  • College education preferred.
  • Computer/database experience required.
  • Experience working in a health care environment required.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Good organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with hospital standards required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure required.
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations required.
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and standards required.
  • Prior Supervisory experience required
