In response to the increase in violence, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, located in South Queens, NY is committed to addressing the root causes of trauma recidivism which has plagued our community. The Violence Elimination and Trauma Outreach (VETO) Program is our Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) serving teenage and adult victims of interpersonal violence. We are seeking a full-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker to join our program. In this role, the LCSW will provide trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and other forms of personalized support to survivors of violence and their families. The LCSW is a team member of the Trauma Division and will work under the supervision of the VETO Program Manager, the Trauma Medical Director, and the Department Administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess patient's program eligibility, psychosocial needs, and risks using medical records and screening tools 
• ·Provide trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services to eligible patients and their families.
• Act as a liaison between patients and/or families with interdisciplinary hospital staff and community-based services
• Maintain appropriate professional patient care documentation in accordance with departmental and hospital policies. 
• Attends appropriate project meetings, community meetings, and in-services and educational opportunities
• Supervise peer counselors and social work interns
• Perform other duties assigned by the Program Manager, Trauma Medical Director, and/or Administrator of the Department
