Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home is a not-for-profit, short-term rehabilitation/long-term care facility, located in Jamaica, New York on the campus of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.  We are a CMS five-star rated facility and ranked in the 1st Quintile for Quality.  Our facility is in need of a motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Recreation Therapist.  This position is a temporary position anticipated to last approximately 2 months.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Documentation, planning, organizing, facilitation, and promoting Therapeutic Recreation and treatment programs.
  • The ability to discern the needs and behaviors of sub-acute/ rehab patients.
  • Able to addresses/accommodate the age-specific physical, psychosocial and emotional changes in residents when planning programs and/or delivering care appropriately, as they differ from those of the elderly.
  • Demonstrates ability to originate new and unique programs.
  • Capable of transporting residents to and from recreation areas.
  • Demonstrates good time management skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience in medical chart documentation including assessments, care planning, MDS, and progress notes.
  • Computer skills are required.
