Description:
Primary Role:
Perform routine diagnostic CT procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating images and related data that are used by physicians to render medical diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Provides professional and compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Adheres to established Radiology standard of care
- Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and constructs reformats as per department protocol.
- Consults policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure all studies conform to established protocols.
- Explains CT procedure and process of administration of contrast to patient and engages radiologist and/or LIP as appropriate per policy.
- Demonstrates skill in setup and administration of IV contrast media.
- Makes sure contrast media questionnaire has been filled out by patient.
- Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and yearly quality control checks of CT scanners
- Explains the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly. Communicate with the patient throughout the procedure.
- Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
- Observes and reports any malfunctioning of the equipment and notifies appropriate persons
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and surrounding area.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper radiation safety procedures
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures.
- Processes images /CDs when needed
- Assumes responsibility for assigned area
- Performs other duties as assigned.
